Before Taking a Deep Dive into the learnings of the Movie The Karate Kid 2010 here’s a short summary of this movie
Summary
In Columbia Pictures’ “The Karate Kid,” 12-year-old Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) could’ve been the most popular kid in Detroit, but his mother’s (Taraji P. Henson) latest career move has landed him in China. Dre immediately falls for his classmate Mei Ying—and the feeling is mutual—but cultural differences make such a friendship impossible. Even worse, Dre’s feelings make an enemy of the class bully, Cheng. In the land of kung fu, Dre knows only a little karate, and Cheng puts “the karate kid” on the floor with ease. With no friends in a strange land, Dre has nowhere to turn but maintenance man Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), who is secretly a master of kung fu. As Han teaches Dre that kung fu is not about punches and parries, but maturity and calm, Dre realizes that facing down the bullies will be the fight of his life.
Now that we are done with the summary let’s go into what the movie teaches lessons that can be implemented throughout our life.
1) Reading only books can only get you so far….
As we see in the movie after getting bullied by Cheng( bully kid) Dre tries to learn kung fu by reading books without any practice, soon he realizes that he cannot able to learn Kung Fu by just reading a book
2) Learn The Basics don’t rush to advance Stuff.
After Mr. Han(Dre’s Kung fu teacher) promise him to teach him kung fu, Dre thinks that he has to learn advance Kung fu to win the tournament, but soon MR Han teaches the importance of learning the basics by giving Dre mundane task and soon after Dre feds up doing that task, Mr. Han shows the kid how doing this basic mundane task actually taught him, Kung Fu.

4) Being Calm from Mind and Heart is Different from Doing Nothing
After seeing the lady controlling the snake Dre says that lady is doing nothing and just copying the snake movement, But Mr. Han clears that it’s the snake that is being controlled by the lady, not the other way around, and being calm from mind I quite hard, Dre assumes that being calm and doing nothing is same and that also is being cleared by Mr. Han, why being calm is different and is so hard to achieve.
5) Can’t Fix Past Mistakes No matter How Hard One try To Change It
Mr. Han Shares his past tragedy to Dre of how he ended in an accident and in an accident his wife and son were died and the cause of the accident was just some argument fights between him and his wife.
Also, he explains how he try to fix his car from that day but he was never able to fix that car no matter how hard he tries.
6) Try to be Calm in Desperate Situations
As at the end of the movie, Dre is one point behind to win the tournament, so he tries to calm himself and manipulate Cheng( his opponent) using the Snake Lady Technique and wins the last point and beat Cheng in the tournament
7) If Life gets you Down it’s up to us Whether or not we want to get up
This motivational dialogue was said by Mr. Han, during the time when Dre got injured and Dre says he still wants to fight against Cheng in the finals, and he didn’t want to quit the match.
8) Never Give Up
Dre got beat up by a bully multiple times still he didn’t accept it and learns Kung Fu for it.
This movie show to never give up and commit yourself to the fullest in what you doing.
